Anyone who uses an SLR or system camera for product photography would, of course, like to know which lens is best suited for product photos. Most cameras for beginners are often delivered as a kit with an 18-55mm lens. These standard lenses cannot meet all expectations. Here, everyone has to make their own experiences by trying. Below are some examples that can be used to create product photos easily.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens with a fixed focal length
Quite cheaply, there is the Canon EF 50mm*. This standard lens convinces with its high light intensity. The photos taken convey a natural point of view, similar to the human eye. However, choosing the right image composition and perspective takes some effort. Nevertheless, it can be used to create amazingly professional-looking close-ups. The smallest focusing distance is 45 cm, and the magnification factor is 0.15.
Tamron SP AF 90mm F2.8 Di MACRO
This is a super-performance macro lens, which has been produced for 30 years. The Diversion is now also suitable for digital SLR cameras. It shows on a scale of 1:1 and, with its 90mm focal length, is primarily used as a portrait macro. But it is also ideal for product photography. With the special shape of the 9 slats of the open aperture, a great background gradient is ensured so that the objects to be photographed can be freed. The lens is available at a reasonable price-to-performance ratio.
AF 28-75mm 2.8 XR Di LD ASL Macro Tamron
The Tamron AF 28-75mm* lens is a universal standard. It offers sufficient light intensity and high resolution, with a slight drop in light towards the edge. The relatively inexpensive lens can easily be used for product and macro photography.
Nikon 40mm f/2.8G AF-S DX Micro-Nikkor
This Nikon lens with a 40mm normal focal length offers sufficient light intensity and an imaging scale of 1:1. The special Nikon Silent Wave motor offers almost silent autofocus and is ideal for closely shooting subjects. The blurred background can be easily separated from the razor-sharp subject. Details are particularly well highlighted. This original Nikon lens is still relatively cheaply available.
System camera Olympus Zuiko Digital EM 35 mm f3.5 Macro lens
According to the new Four Thirds system used by Olympus system cameras, the Zuiko Digital EM 35mm offers a very compact design. With the help of the so-called floating mechanism, constant image sharpness is guaranteed throughout the recording area. This lens is ideal for product photography, macro shots, and portraits. Variants for the Micro Four Thirds system, made by Panasonic and Olympus, are also available at a good price-performance ratio.
