How to Take Product Photos Outdoors, and What Should Be Considered?

If you want to photograph larger objects, you can get optimal lighting with natural daylight. The products that are photographed outdoors include, for example, vehicles, bicycles, larger play equipment, and all those products that can no longer be photographed at home in a light tent. An example is the photograph of a car to be sold on an online portal. As with all products, a vehicle must also be properly staged.

It makes little sense to photograph a car while parked next to other vehicles. Under certain circumstances, you may have to drive into the countryside by car, or at least to a large parking lot without any major disturbing background. With a medium telephoto lens, the car is now photographed diagonally from the front so that the viewer gets to see the front end and the long side of the vehicle. Of course, the rear section and the other side of the vehicle can also be photographed.

However, two sides of the vehicle should always be displayed. Due to the telephoto lens, the background is lost in a blur so that only the car is photographed sharply. If you want, you can also change the background on the PC with an image editing program. Daylight ensures optimal lighting without disturbing reflections.

The product shots, which also come into their own outdoors, include fashion shots. After all, garments, bags, and shoes work best when worn. If, for example, you want to stage handbags skilfully, then they can be taken in front of a flower bed, for example. Again, the background should easily blur. Bathing bags can be very well presented in front of a swimming pool.

But these come into their own on the shoulders of the proven tailor doll. Maybe there will also be a living model ready for fashion shots. In general, it is important to pay attention to the possible shadow cast in these shots. The sun should therefore stand in the back of the photographer. If you still have a helper, you can also scatter the sunlight individually with the help of the inexpensively available folding reflectors *. In this way, shadow areas can also be brightened.
